South Western Railways to lease retail space for premium brands at major stations in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) said it would lease retail space for single-brand brands at all major train stations in the Bengaluru division. 

The move is aimed at enhancing passenger amenities and boosting non-fare revenue, and follows the Railway Board’s new policy to award contracts by allotting unused vacant space for premium stalls through transparent e-auction, the SWR said.  These outlets — to be set up in prime locations within station premises — may include high-end brands offering apparel, footwear travel accessories and other lifestyle products, it added.
