Unbuilt Ejipura flyover-ancient Hampi bazaar comparison has Bengalureans saying 'It's an emotion'

The Ejipura flyover in the city has long been under construction since 2017. The 2.5 km flyover on the Inner Ring Road is meant to connect Koramangala's Kendriya Sadan and Ejipura.

'Peak Bengaluru moments' as it has come to be known, has begun to encompass a variety of things -- traffic issues, water crisis, and people have sometimes used humour to deal with the hardships.

Now, for instance people are comparing the under-construction Ejipura flyover to Hampi's ancient bazaar.

The Ejipura flyover, in the city, has been under construction since 2017.

The 2.5 km flyover on the Inner Ring Road is meant to connect Koramangala's Kendriya Sadan and Ejipura.

Following the delay in the construction, Bengalureans have now started to take it in a playful manner, comparing it to the ancient bazaar.

Taking to X a user named Satya posted pictures of the Ejipura flyover and an image from Hampi.

The caption read:

The picture shows Hampi ancient bazaar resembling the flyover, which somewhat looks 'ancient'. The post has garnered over 25k views and a flurry of comments, many being sarcastic.

"Ejipura modern flyover, of course. In today's times, people are losing their touch with art. It is great that the GoK is doing all that is possible to introduce people to modern sculpture," a user commented.

"That's itihasa right there in ejipura lmao," another humorously wrote.

"Ejipura flyover... because the construction was started in 1000 BC and it is still continued in 2025 AD and may be beyond," commented a third.

"Wait few more years and Bangalore will start looking like Hampi.....all long abandoned projects," chipped in a fourth.

"At this point, the ejipura "flyover" has a certain nostalgic factor," said a fifth.

"Great things takes time..! Eejipura flyover Best example," a sixth quipped.

Another user sarcastically wrote, "I was upset for no reason. Visionary folks built Hampi of the future and I thought it's an incomplete flyover."

As of February 2025, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) set in motion the second launching girder for the long-delayed flyover; with authorities revising the deadline to December 2025, the move is expected to accelerate the project's progress.

The Hampi bazaar is a well know attraction located in front of the Virupaksha Temple. It is a marketplace that spreads for about 1 km, and has old pavilions on both sides,

Hampi bazaar used to be popular during Vijayanagara Empire days, however, today it has become a tourist attraction, and the site still functions as a marketplace. There is a photo gallery too which is also very popular amongst the tourists, which displays photos of Hampi since 1856.
