Close loss making co-operative banks: GTD

He was speaking at the felicitation ceremony of Mysore and Chamarajanagar Districts Central Co-operative (MDCC) Bank  President C Basavegowda, organised by the bank’s administrative board,  employees union and co-operative unions here on Saturday on the occasion of his 60th birthday, besides winning Karnataka Sahakara Rathna’ award.

Furthermore, Devegowda said that co-operative unions in north Karnataka were getting less funds when compared to those in south Karnataka.

Commending Basavegowda for his work in the co-operative sector, MP H Vishwanath said that around 30 lakh farmers were registered under Yashaswini Health Insurance Scheme in 2003. Following years saw the registration of around 1.5 lakh ryots per annum.

Observing that the scheme is a boon for poor farmers, Vishwanath said that 1.62 lakh farmers have registered in Mysore and Chamarajanagar Districts alone. Vishwanath urged for  more people to be brought under the Yashaswini scheme.
