Congress guarantees affecting Karnataka's development: MLA Raghavendra Hitnal

Koppal: In a startling revelation, Congress MLA from Koppal and a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Raghavendra Hitnal, on Sunday said that the implementation of five guarantee schemes has hindered development.

He was addressing a gathering after performing the bhoomi puja for a new post office building at Kunikeri in taluk.

‘Sluggish pace due to guarantees’

Hitnal said, “Several programmes/projects have been formulated for the village (Kunikeri). But the works are moving at a sluggish pace due to the implementation of five guarantee schemes by the state government.”

The Congress lawmaker said, “Rs 54,000 crore is being spent on the guarantees. The diversion of funds has certainly hindered development works.”

Hitnal added that the benefits of guarantee schemes were directly reaching the poor.
