Contributions pour in for North Karnataka flood victims

Activists of several organisations were seen engaged in raising funds for the aid of the flood victims. Leaders S N Sriram, Jagadeeshwarachar, Pramila Mallikarjuna, Sukanya, Rangappa and Siraj took part in the padayatra for fund raising held by BJP unit at the Agricultural Produces Marketing Committee  yard.

The Divisional Controller of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation flagged off a padayatra by Yuva Vidyarthi Hitarakshana Vedike at the government bus stand in the City. The students collected funds by traversing every nook and corner of the City.
Activists of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat also took out a padayatra for collection of donation.

Congress workers will raise funds at taluk centres on October 7 while Janata Dal (Secular) has planned a similar padayatra on Oct 8. Member of Legislative Council, Y A Narayanaswamy has contributed his one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s relief fund. The government employees too have donated their one day’s salary.
Hundreds have died and lakhs of people have become refugees as incessant rains lashed North Karnataka districts last week.

Lakhs house have collapsed and standing crops washed away due to the rains, causing extensive damage to life and property.
