A Covid-19 patient, who was being ferried from a private hospital in Athani town to a hospital in Belagavi City in an ambulance, died after the ambulance collided head-on with a bike and turned turtle before landing in a nearby field near Belladbagewadi in Hukkeri taluk on Friday.
The Covid-19 patient, a 51-year-old man from Shindor village in Jat taluk of Sangli district in Maharashtra, succumbed to his injuries.
Even the motorcyclist Sagar Mallappa Dodwad (18), a resident of Rabkavi, was killed on the spot while pillion rider Gopal Annappa Mulimani suffered injuries. Hukkeri police registered a case.
