<p>The delay in completion of several development works - underground drainage, Road over Bridge and Raja Marga works in and around Mysore Palace is causing traffic snarls in the city. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Mysore City Corporation which has undertaken the works under various projects is not keen on completing them even after many months of its commencement.Works on the Road over Bridge near Karnataka Exhibition Authority ground has been going on since the last four months. The work have affected tourists, motorists and residents of Ittigegudu, who have to use the Doddakere ground to reach the main road. The alternative road is not motorable.<br /><br />“I have been using this road ever since the work commenced. The alternative road is not viable to use. There have been instances of minor accidents as the vehicle tend to skid,” complained Sukesh N, resident of Ittigegudu.<br /><br />Inconvenience<br /><br />Similar is the case with UGD construction works behind CFTRI quarters in the busy Pulikeshi road. <br /><br />The arterial road connects the city’s residential area V V Mohalla and KRS road. <br /><br />Works which have been going on from the past two months have been inconveniencing motorists, who have to take the longer routes to reach their destinations. The works have also affected street side flower sellers. A week ago, one part of the road was allowed for vehicular movement.<br /><br />Diversion<br /><br />The UGD works near Mysore Race Club (MRC) is also nowhere near completion. <br /><br />The road connecting T Narasipur, and the Chamundi Hills has been dug on boths sides and motorists have to take a diversion to reach the spot through the narrow Dhobhi ghat road or mud road behind Karanji lake. <br /><br />The OHB construction near Shantala theatre in the heart of the city is on the verge of completion but there is no clarity on whether the road will be opened for public use immediately.<br /><br />Works on the three-year-old Raja Marga project in and around Amba Vilas Palace (Mysore Palace) are still underway, though March was the last deadline to complete the project. <br /><br />Slow works have been resulting in traffic pile up near City Bus Stand during peak hours.<br /><br />Commenting on the delay in completion of works by Mysore City Corporation, Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) president R Chandra Prakash, said that the works should ideally be completed before the onset of monsoon. <br /><br />“If the projects are not completed in a month’s time, the fast approaching rains will add to the woes of the motorists. <br /><br />The Raja Marga project is best example for MCC’s incompetence,” he added.<br /></p>
