Women stage stir

Hundreds of women folk from across the State, who had arrived at Bababudangiri Inam Dattatreya peeta to take part in Anasooya Jayanti programme, unexpectedly staged a protest urging the district administration to permit the devotees to enter the cave.

Women staged the protest after the completion of Anasooya Jayanti programme which was held under a temporary shed created in the right side of Datta Peeta.

They urged the officials to let them inside the cave and have darshan of Datta Paduke. The unexpected protest created a kind of tension in the region as the police too had to sweat hard to disperse the crowd.

Assistant Comissioner Dayanand who arrived at the spot listened to the protesters’ pleas and convinced them that the district administration has allotted permission to the devotees to enter inside the cave on Monday.

After seeking the clarifications, the crowd dispersed from the place.
