Addressing a press meet, DYFI district Secretary P R Bharath said that after the recent landslip on that road, it has become difficult to commute on that road.

“Landslide occurred as the road was not repaired on time. Both elected representatives and officials are responsible for it. Some portions of the Kadagadal-Maragodu road had also been encroached,” he charged.

He urged the elected representatives and the district administration to take up measures to relocate the people who are affected by floods in the district every year. He said district administration does not have enough men, material and equipment to handle the monsoon crises. Boats reach the spot after house is submerged.  Families are ready to desert the low laying areas (banks of rivers) where they reside if safer place and basic facilities are provided by the authorities. However, elected representatives instead of finding a permanent solution, are trying to keep the problem for ever.
