Efforts on to enhance rural banking

Speaking at the 118th SLBC meeting, Seth, who is also the CMD of Syndicate Bank, said as on June 2011, banking services have been provided to 1,713 villages out of 3,395 unbanked villages identified, in the population group of over 2,000.

There is a need to quicken the pace so that the remaining 1,682 villages are covered by March 2012.   

Further, 6,029 unbanked villages have been identified with population group of 1000-2000 for providing banking services in the next phase.
