<p>Mandya: The parents of 84 students have taken transfer certificates (TCs) opposing eggs being cooked as part of the mid-day meal scheme at the Government Higher Primary School in Aalakere in the taluk, as there is a historical Veerabhadraswamy temple close to the school. </p>.<p>Gram Panchayat member Mahesh said they have admitted their children to the schools at Keelaara, Hanakere and Besagarahalli villages. </p>.<p>There were 144 children in the school. Earlier, bananas were distributed to the children. Some parents had asked the teachers to send eggs home instead of cooking them at the school, as there is a temple nearby.</p>.<p>Later, some parents insisted on giving cooked eggs to the children, and accordingly, the mid-day meal staff started cooking the eggs in the school. Then, some parents, who were vegetarians, threatened to admit their children elsewhere if they cooked eggs in the school.</p>.<p>They have admitted their kids to other schools, School Development and Monitoring Committee member Chandru Aalakere said. </p>.<p>Block Education Officer K T Sowbhagya tried to persuade the parents, but in vain. </p>
