Syed Muhammed Koya Tanjal Jamalullaili inaugurated the famous Emmemadu Makham Uroos by hoising the flag on Friday.
Prior to the flag hoisting, special prayers were offered at Sufi Syed Dargah.
Emmemadu Uroos will be held till March 5. This time, the Uroos will be held in a simpler way.
Precautionary measures are being taken by the administration as more number of the devout arrive from Kerala, Emmemadu Taj-Ul Muslim Jamaat president Abdul Khader Haji said.
A convention and mass meals will be held on March 1, he added.
Taj-Ul Muslim Jamaat secretary Ibrahim Sa-adi, directors K M Hussain Sakhafi, Kalera Abdul Khader, Mahin C M Ashraf and others were present.
Emmemadu Uroos is held in commemoration of Saint Sufi Shaheed, who has been laid to rest in Emmemadu village.
