<p>The Forest department has finally pulled up its socks after tamed elephant Ranga died in a road mishap near Mathigodu elephant camp, under Anechowkuru range recently. The department has decided to instal CCTV cameras to monitor the movement of vehicles.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Besides, three teams will patrol the 12 km stretch from Anechowkuru checkpost to Virajpet checkpost. The patrol team will intercept speeding vehicles and warn the drivers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Nagarahole Tiger Project Director and Assistant Conservator of Forest Prasannakumar said, CCTV cameras will be installed at Alaluru, Thithimathi and Virajpet checkposts. The department had written a letter to the PWD in 2015, requesting to lay speed-breakers at a distance of one kilometre each. He said that there is no plan to relocate Mathigodu elephant camp and added that security will be strengthened.</p>
