Govt to recruit 8,000 teachers

The State government will recruit 8,000 teachers to primary and higher primary schools.

A proposal in this regard has been submitted to the Finance Department for approval, said Minister for Primary and Higher Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri here on Tuesday.  Kageri, who was in the city to campaign for the Legislative Council election in the North East graduates constituency, told mediapersons that teacher-student ratio in the government schools varied between 1:40 and 1:28.

He said the government was yet to take a decision on concession in fees for students of 124 schools in the drought-hit taluks.
