Last Updated 08 January 2019, 18:48 IST

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday rejected the plea of an accused in the RSS activist Ruredresh challenging the re-examination of witnesses in the case.

Rudresh was murdered in broad daylight at Kamaraja Road in Shivajinagar on October 16, 2016. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe and arrested Sheriff and four others for their involvement in the murder case.

During the trial, the NIA had orally submitted that it couldn’t present before the court on time, evidence such as the weapon and the vehicle used for committing the crime.

The special court has allowed its submission, but the advocate for the accused had raised objections stating that witnesses cannot be re-examined. The special court had rejected the objections, which was questioned before the High Court.

The High Court said that it was just and proper to re-examine witnesses on legal and technical aspects. Justice P S Dinesh Kumar passed the orders.
