Kerala cops to arrive in Mysore polls for security

 Police forces from neighbouring Kerala State will be working in tandem with district (Mysore) police ahead of Lok Sabha elections, as part of security arrangements.

SP Abhinav Khare told the media here on Friday that Kerala police will be part of the security arrangements in the wake of the Naxal activities reported in the border of Karnataka and Kerala in 2013. The police forces from God’s own country are expected to arrive here on March 28.

In all, 86 vulnerable areas have been identified, and the matter has been brought to the notice of election observer and also the deputy commissioner. Security will be tightened further at the check posts, with CCTV cameras already installed for the purpose, the SP said.

Change of IO

On the seizure of Rs 2.25 crore from a Kerala bound bus recently, in which police personnel including a PSI are booked on robbery charge, the SP said that existing investigating officer (IO) will be changed as per the instructions given by IGP (Southern range) K Ramachandra Rao. Sadananda Thippannavar circle police inspector of South station is the current IO. He may be replaced by the Dy SP (Hunsur sub-division) Nanjunda, the SP clarified.

He also said that though the case was recommended for investigation by Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the State’s premier investigating agency is yet to take over the case. Till then, the district police will be vetting into the theory surrounding illegal transportation of gold biscuits in the same bus, a new thing that has emerged recently.
