The Election Commission had countermanded polls in the constituency after the BJP candidate and incumbent MLA Vijaykumar died of heart attack on May 4.
The hung verdict thrown up by the Assembly polls has lent extra significance to the election in Jayanagar and in Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency, where polling was deferred to May 28 by the Election Commission following the recovery of thousands of forged voter ID cards.
Alliance partners, the JD(S) and the Congress, are yet to finalise their stand on having a tie-up in these two constituencies.
However, the two parties are likely to have an understanding with JD(S) helping to ensure the victory of Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy, daughter of former Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy in Jayanagar.
