Left parties follow value- based politics: CPI

The Left parties candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency, S Vijay Kumar of CPI has filed his nomination on Monday before the Returning Officer Dr Muddu Mohan.

Speaking to mediapersons, the candidate who hails from Chikmagalur said that he is backed by the CPM and Forward Block. He claimed that left parties are practicing value based politics.

He said he has experience of working for the cause of coffee plantation labourers, against price hike, eviction of encroachments and so on.

CPI state Joint Secretary S T Sunderesh called upon the voters to support their non-corrupt candidate. Both the BJP and Congress are neck-deep dipped in the ocean of corruption.

Both the parties have lost their morality. Congress does not deserve the credibility to seek votes as it has lost all ethics and most of the BJP candidates are having corrupt background. Referring to Modi propaganda, Sunderesh said one-man show would not bring success to any political party. 

There is a need for alternate political atmosphere other than individual focused politics, CPI leader noted. 

Left to contest in 6 seats

He added that the JD (U) has declared its support to Udupi-Chikmagalur left party candidate. However, talks are being held with the JD(U) over the support at state-level. Left Front is contesting in six Lok Sabha constituencies across the state. The CPI will contest from three parliamentary seats, whereas CPM will contest  for two seats and Forward Block in one parliamentary seat.

Udupi District CPM secretary Shankar said Left parties are keen on the formation of third front at national level. The scenario will be known only after the election results. Though JD(S) leader Deve Gowda talks about Third Front in Delhi, his reaction in the state over the same is totally absurd, he flayed.

Chikmagalur CPI district secretary H M Renukardhya said that there were times when left candidate secured nearly 1.5 lakh votes in the constituency. The left parties have a major role to play. It is expected that the candidate may get good number of votes, he added.

23.55 lakh worth asset

According to the affidavit, Vijay Kumar owns movable asset worth Rs 3.55 lakh.He has an inherited property worth Rs 20 lakh, which includes 3.20 acre of land worth Rs 15 lakh. The total income of the candidate as shown in the affidavit is Rs 1,93,500.

Vijay Kumar owns 50 grams of gold worth Rs 1.50 lakh. While the gold possessed by his wife is 200 grams worth Rs six lakh and half kilogram of silver worth Rs 25,000. His wife has movable asset worth Rs 6.30 lakh. Vijay Kumar has a loan to the tune of Rs 2.15 lakh.
