Congress’ Rajya Sabha member BK Hariprasad on Thursday suggested that the Pulwama attack and its aftermath was the result of “match-fixing” between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan.

The senior Congress leader was responding to Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who slammed the grand old party for demanding evidence of India’s air strikes on terror camps in Balakot.

“Ravi Shankar Prasad should clarify whether there is any match-fixing between Pakistan and Modi. Or else, without their knowledge, this Pulwama instance would not have taken place,” Hariprasad told ANI. “If you look at the chain of events that has taken place after Pulwama, it looks like Modi has a match-fixing with Pakistan people,” he said.

Over 40 security personnel were killed when an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the CRPF convoy in Pulwama on February 14. This was followed by the Indian Air Force launching an attack on JeM terror camps in Balakot in Pakistani territory on February 26 and the subsequent stand-off with Pakistan.

The Centre and the Opposition parties have been sparring over the issue, with questions being raised over IAF’s claims on striking terror camps. The BJP and the Congress have been accusing each other of politicising the issue.
