Manipal Varsity signs pact with University of Kentucky

Registrar (International programmes) and Executive Director (Planning) of Manipal University Dr H Vinod Bhat and Associate provost for international programmes of University of Kentucky Susan Carvalho were the signatories to the agreement.

According to a press release, Pro Chancellor of Manipal University Dr H S Ballal and Prof Thomas Young of the College of medicine, University of Kentucky exchanged the papers at a brief meeting in the University building on Monday.

Dr Bhat, Registrar Dr G K Prabhu and Chief Medical Information officer of the University of Kentucky Carol Steltenkamp were present on the occasion.

The present agreement will be followed by a more specific Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate collaboration between corresponding institutions of the two universities like medical, pharmacy, allied health, nursing, life sciences and media institutions.

A team of medical faculty from the US University is on a visit to KMC, Manipal and Mangalore. On January 7 and 8, another team of two from the university will visit Manipal University. Director of Institute of Rural journalism and community issues Prof Al Cross and former journalist and writer Terry Anderson will be here to study possible tie-ups, the release added.
