<p>Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has been ranked 16th in the country and given a rating of 'A' grade in the annual integrated rating and ranking of power distribution utilities done by Power Finance Corporation of India for the financial year 2023-24. </p><p>This is the highest among all the ESCOMS in the state. Last year, CESC was rated 'B' grade. </p><p>CESC Chairperson Ramesh Bandisiddegowda informed this at a press meet in Mysuru on Thursday. </p><p>He attributed the success to better technical and financial performance and team work by 7000 employees of the CESC led by himself, MD G Sheela who is retiring on Friday and Director (technical), K M Munigopal Raju. </p>.CESC's power purchase demand to reduce by 500 MW by next year.<p>Ramesh informed that, in the past one year, they have taken up several special drives. Power distribution loss has reduced to 9.38 per cent this financial year so far compared to 10.3 per cent in 2023-24. They took up comprehensive maintenance drive of 272 eleven KV feeders which recorded high power supply (PS) disruption and reduced PS disruption by 50 per cent. </p><p>The CESC took up comprehensive maintenance drive of 4642 distribution transformers and reduced instances of transformer failure or electricity hazards. They took up energy audit drive in 138 Eleven KV feeders which recorded high power distribution loss. In order to reduce accidents, technical and financial loss they have rectified 23,061 hazardous locations, he said.</p><p>Sheela also informed that the corporation has finished UG cabling by 40 per cent in the CESC limits. They have introduced group medical insurance for 7000 employees and their 25,000 family members to take care of medical expenses upto Rs 2 lakh, she said. </p>
