<p>Mangaluru: In its investigation into the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru by cadres of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested a key accused, who had been absconding for the last two years.</p><p>Abdul Rahaman, was taken into custody by NIA team at the Kannur International Airport on his arrival from Qatar. </p> .<p>A total of four accused, including Abdul Rahaman and two other absconders, were chargesheeted by NIA in connection with the case in April, taking the total to 28. </p><p>The NIA also declared rewards for information relating to six absconders. A reward of Rs 4 lakh was announced for giving any information on Abdul Rahaman's whereabouts, said a release from NIA. </p> <p>The NIA investigations had revealed that Abdul Rahaman had, on directions of PFI leadership, voluntarily harboured the main assailants and others involved in the case. He had fled to Qatar after the attackers were arrested.</p> .<p>Praveen Nettaru was brutally murdered by PFI members on July 26, 2022 in Bellare village of Sullia Taluk in Dakshina Kannada district. The killing was part of a larger conspiracy aimed at striking terror among the people and unleashing communal hatred and unrest in the society, said NIA in a statement. </p><p> After the case was handed over to the NIA, the NIA had re registered case on August 4, 2022. </p>
