Outgoing Isro chief is 'Press Club Man of the Year'

Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), K Radhakrishnan, was conferred the Press Club Man of the Year 2014 Award here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did the honours at a function held at the Press Club of Bengaluru.

In his brief reply to the felicitations in Kannada, Radhakrishnan, who retired from service on Wednesday, recalled the journey of Isro from its modest beginnings in the industrial sheds in Peenya to its recent success with the Mars Orbiter Mission.

The tenure of Radhakrishnan as Isro chief, secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space Commission, was extended by four months in August this year till December 31 on “functional grounds and in public interest.”

The chief minister also launched the 2015 diary of the Club and Wi-Fi services on the Club premises and felicitated some senior journalists.
