Power consumption down

Pre-monsoon showers across Karnataka has brought down power consumption in the last three days.

According to Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation, the normal average generation is 8,900-9,500 MW during peak hour, and consumption was nearly the same. But on Thursday, consumption had come down by 14 units and it was 196 MU. On Wednesday, it was 199 MU and on May 3, it was 202 MU. There has been a reduction since the last 2-3 days.

Power usage has come down for irrigation pump sets and those using fans. But there is limited reduction in Bengaluru where usage of air conditioners in glass establishments and high-end apartments continues, said an official in Bescom. The city on an average consumes 45 MU dialy.
