Pvt hospitals exempted from trade licence

Last Updated 23 September 2017, 21:35 IST

Private hospitals are no longer required to submit the trade licence to the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

“Earlier, it was mandatory for hospitals to submit the trade licence under the Karnataka Private Medical Regulation Act. But hospitals come under the health care service and it is not a business,” said Shalini Rajneesh, principal secretary (Health and Family Welfare). The Private Hospitals Association had been seeking exemption from trade licence for a long time.

Documents like environmental clearance, e-waste management, building maps, staff details and tariffs of various facilities should be submitted, she added.
