'PWD contractors to stop work'

Association President Radhakrishna Nayak said that the PWD department owes Rs 33.71 crore to the contractors. Minor Irrigation Department owes Rs 14.28 crore. The contractors have presently undertaken works worth Rs 100 crore in various parts of the district and it shall be stopped till the bills are paid.

When B S Yeddyurappa was the State Finance Minster and H D Revanna was the PWD In charge Minister, three years back the last payment was done.The payment should be done immediately and the Line of credit should be exhibited on the notice boards.

A request letter has been sent to Chief Minister, PWD minister, MLAs, Engineers and all concerned officers as decided in the meeting held on July 4 by PWD contractors.

Till date no funds or assurances have been received hence the contractors have decided to proceed with the protest.
