Rachana awards conferred on 5 xians

The award winners are Richard Rebello Heroor (Rachana Agriculturist of the year), Vincent C Koland (Rachana Entrepreneur of the year), Pascal Alan Nazareth from Bangalore (Rachana Professional of the year), Ivan Fernandes from Dubai (Rachana NRI Entrepreneur of the year) and Flavia Agnes from Mumbai (Rachana Outstanding Woman of the year).  Speaking on the occasion, Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva said that corruption is rampant in the country owing to the lack of leadership and experiences.

She said there is a need to create leaders at the grassroots level. More youth should be trained to become future leaders. “Christians should unitedly fight for their cause. There may be different organisations within the community. However, all the organisations should work for the betterment of their community,” she added.

The Governor said emphasis should be given to the education of women. The youth should be taught discipline. It is a tragedy that attempt is being made to sow the seeds of communalism among the tribal communities. 

Mangalore Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that more and more achievers should be identified and achievers should become role model for the society. High Court Judge Justice B V Pinto was the chief guest.
