Reddy, 9 others granted bail

A CBI special court on Monday granted bail to former Minister G Janardhana Reddy, Kudligi MLA B Nagendra and eight others in one of the cases pertaining to illegal iron ore export from Belikeri port.

However, none of the accused will walk free since there are other cases pending against them.

The case

The CBI had charge-sheeted the accused in the alleged export of 6.05 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore from the Belikeri port through Eagle Traders and Logistics and S B Logistics.

The case was that Eagle Traders, where Nagendra is a partner, sold the illegally excavated iron ore to S B Logistics for export.

The probe revealed that the iron ore was illegally mined and transported using fake permits allegedly facilitated by former minister G Janardhana Reddy.

The court granted bail to 10 accused in the case, including K Janardhana Reddy of S B Logistics and Kuruba Nagaraj, partner of Eagle Traders and Logistics.
