Runaway bride leaves groom stranded

 
Bride Lalithakala from Hennur in Bangalore was to tie the knot with K V Venkatesh from Doddanancharlu village in Gudibande taluk at 9.30 am on Monday.

The marriage reception was on Sunday evening. After the reception, the bride went out on the pretext of taking a stroll and fled in a vehicle along with a few family members. When the incident came to light, the groom’s family members locked up the bride’s relatives in a room. They were freed only after the police intervened on Monday morning.

Undeterred by the unexpected turn of events, the groom’s parents decided to go ahead with the wedding. They convinced one Nagamani from Gunthapanahalli village and the marriage was conducted, though not at the muhurtam fixed earlier. The marriage was held in the afternoon.
