SDPI activists staged a protest at the Indira Circle on Monday in opposition of the implementation of a ban on the sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets.

They said that the order by the government will prove detrimental for farmers. “The dairy farmers will also be hit hard. The life of Dalits and minorities who are dependent on cattle for meat will be affected. Therefore, the order should be taken back,” they demanded.

SDPI district unit president Amin Mohisin said that the Central government is interfering in the food rights of about 70% of the Indian population. The Central government is raging its rivalry against the minority, he criticised.

Popular Front of India district unit president Harish said that the notification is anti-people. City Municipal Council member K J Peter, Mansoor Ali, Abdul Adkar and Liyaquat Ali were present.
