<p> The State Election Commission (SEC) has taken serious note of discrepancies in the voter’s list. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Taking cognisance of complaints about erroneous lists, interchange of names and also deletion of names, in the recently concluded ULB polls, the commission has instructed the deputy commissioners of all the districts to vet into the complaints.<br /><br />Informing this to media, deputy commissioner Ramegowda said, the commission has asked to assess the reasons that caused inconvenience to voters. What has taken the commission by surprise is the recurring of complaints despite entrusting the task to officers like tahsildars and others in the top cadres. <br /><br />In case anybody is found guilty, tahsildars and enrolment officers should be held responsible as directed by the commission. He clarified that there is no room for suo motu deletion of voters names from the list.<br /><br />That apart, the process to enrol new voters will start from March 12. <br /><br />The district administration has already issued election photo identity cards (EPIC) to 99.63 per cent of total voters.<br /><br />Anguish<br /><br />Complaints pertaining to voter’s list reached its peak during the recent ULB polls, with many organisations venting their ire against the authorities concerned.<br /><br /> Former corporator R Jayakumar and G Shikharchand Jain of Nivasigala Hitarakshana Samiti of Vidyaranyapuram held the lackadaisical attitude of the district administration responsible for the woes.</p>
