Students showcase Indian tradition to Russian guests

City college displays tradition of the land to foreign guests

A college here on Tuesday was witness to an unique programme. An eight member group of Russians unveiled their country’s tradition, while the students of the college displayed Indian tradition to the applause of foreign guests.

SBRR Mahajana First Grade College in the city had provided a perfect platform- Indo-Russia cultural exchange in association with Vedavyasa Yoga Foundation.

The eight-member group of Russians- Yakatharina, Irina, Ejeni, Anapaetia, Marina, Alexander and Oleshia are on a study tour in India as part of yoga and cultural exchange.

While Yakatharina mellifluously sang a song in awe of tradition and culture of her land in her mother tongue and explained the meaning of the same to the students, she also invited the students present in the auditorium to her country.

Next, it was time for the students of the college to introduce the tradition of the land to foreign guests. 

Navya a student of second year B Com presented Bharatanatyam. Apart from the dance, what won over the guests was the dancer’s attire.

Mahesh and his troupe was the show stopper with kamsale dance to the tune of ‘madeshanige sharanu sharanaiah...’

When the artistes performed acrobat, the guests applauded in awe.

Pradeep performed on harmonium.  Earlier to this a slide show on Indian tradition was screened.

Raghavendra Pai of Vedavyasa Yoga Foundation explained them about diversified culture of the land, besides marriage rituals, food system, rural life and historically significant places in the nation.

Principal K V Prabhakar was also present.
