Last Updated 17 August 2012, 17:31 IST

Extending moral support to North Eastern community, who have been migrating towards their states fearing consequences following widespread rumours, students of Sevabharathi Educational Institutions took out a rally in Chamarajanagar on Friday.

The students holding placards took out a march on the main roads of the city and proceeded on the double road to deputy commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to the president through DC.

They demanded the Centre and state government should take stern measures against the miscreants who have created fear among the NE people through SMS and phone calls.

Thousands of students and job seekers from NE states descend in Karnataka hoping for a good future, accepting our culture and tradition. Suitable protection should be provided to them, they stressed.

Sevabharathi Educational institution vice president Subbanna, R Satish, principal T A Manjunath and students participated in the rally.
