Two wild elephants (a 15-year-old male and a 35-year-old female) were found dead at the Mathigodu and Anechoukur wildlife ranges on Wednesday.
The bodies were found by the staff of the forest department who were on duty Wednesday morning, forest officials said. The matter was reported to the Mathigodu Range Forest Officer Devaraju and Deputy Conservator of Forests of Nagarahole Wildlife Department, Belliappa, who visited the spot.
The Forest Department veterinarian Dr Umashankar conducted a post mortem after which the carcasses were cremated.
