The State Election Commission (SEC) has deferred the dates for the first phase of urban local body elections, following the demise of former prime minister Vajpayee. The elections were scheduled to be held on August 29. The polls will now be held on August 31. As per the revised election calendar, the last date for filing of nominations will be August 18, as opposed to August 17.

Withdrawal of nominations is on August 23. Counting will be held on September 3. September 2 has been alloted as an extra day in case of repolling.
