Vajpayee Layout will be ready in a year: CUDA chief

Chikkamagaluru Urban Development Authority (CUDA) president Sayyed Haneef has said that works on the A B Vajpayee layout at Uppalli will be completed within a year. The layout is being planned in association with the Chikkamagaluru Urban Development Authority and farmers from Uppalli and Indavara.

Briefing reporters, he said Vajpayee housing project was initiated in 2008-09. A total of 7,954 site aspirants had registered.

It was decided to develop the sites on 40:60 ratio with the support of farmers from Uppalli-Indavara.

A proposal was submitted on March 30, 2011. The housing project worth Rs 160.42 crore was given an approval on December 22, 2012.

The tender was entrusted to Nagarjuna Construction Company. There are 80X50, 40X30, 20X30 sites. There are 2,591 sites, of which, 1,036 will be given to farmers and 1,555 will be offered to CUDA for sale.

Owing to various reasons, the project was delayed. Works on the construction of the layout were accelerated last February. A total of 768 sites have been allotted through lottery. Applications have been invited with 10% deposit for allotting the remaining 510 sites.

The last date for submitting applications is February 15. The sites will be allotted through a lottery.

CUDA Commissioner Bhimanidi said, "The layout has 195 acres of land. As per a MoU with the farmers, the work on laying layouts have commenced. Priority will be given to UGD, road and park."

A sum of Rs 18.5 crore has been released for Nagarjuna Construction Company for developing the layout.

The government rate has been fixed for the sites. CUDA will borrow loans of Rs 50 crore from Canara Bank for the development of the layout. By March 2019, the layouts will be ready,' he said.
