'Will BJP make Modi CM?' exclaims Kharge incredulously

Last Updated 10 May 2018, 04:06 IST

“BJP claims that the situation in the state is changing after Prime Minister Narendra Modi started touring the State. So will the BJP make Modi the chief minister of the state?” asked Kalaburagi MP Mallikarjun Kharge sarcastically.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Kharge said BJP has no claim to any achievement as they have done nothing.

“During BJP’s five-year rule, there were 3 chief ministers. One chief minister (B S Yeddyurappa) went to jail...It is shameful that a person who has been to jail is being projected as the chief ministerial candidate.”

Kharge said: “The state BJP is in hospital and is dependent on ‘Modi’ tonic. We are ready with the medicine to counter the tonic.”

Yeddyurappa is just a party candidate, said Kharge who said it was immature on the part of Yeddyurappa to fix the date of his swearing-in ceremony.

On former prime minister and JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda’s comments that he will disown his son former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy if he allies with BJP post-election, Kharge said he didn’t know why Deve Gowda had made such statements. He refused to react further stating it was their private matter.
