A widow and her teenage daughter were found murdered at their farm in Doddamalthu village on Tuesday.
The woman was identified as Kavitha (45) and her daughter as Jagashri (17). Kavitha had decided to visit the farm along with her daughter Jagashri who was studying in second PUC in St Philomena college in Hassan.
When the duo did not return home, Kavitha’s son Mega Madan Raj who is studying in the eight standard of Morarji Desai Residential School in Virajpet contacted his mother over the cellphone and found it switched off. Raj launched a search with the help of neighbours and found his mother and sister in a pool of blood.
The police suspect that a dispute over property ended with the double murder. The police have taken three suspects for questioning, sources added.
Kodagu Superintendent of Police Dr Suman D Pennekar visited the spot.
