Kerala pet lover dies after hit by lorry while trying to save kitten on road

Sijo swiftly stopped his vehicle and rushed towards the kitten, and as he was about to pick it a lorry hit him.

Thiruvananthapuram: A 42-year-old man died after being hit by a lorry while he was trying to save a kitten stranded on the road at Thrissur in Kerala on Tuesday.

Sijo (42), of Ollukkara in Thrissur was killed in the accident at Mannuthy.

According to eyewitnesses, a cat was trying to save the kitten stranded on the road by around 9.30 pm on Tuesday. Sijo, who was riding a two-wheeler, spotted this.

He swiftly stopped his vehicle and rushed towards the kitten. As he was about to pick the kitten a lorry hit him. Though he was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

A video footage of the incident from a nearby CCTV camera has come out.

Some eyewitnesses were also said to have alerted Sijo about the lorry. But he ignored it and ventured to save the kitten. The kitten escaped after Sijo was hit by the lorry.

Local people said that Sijo was a pet lover and had many pets at his home.
