Energy efficient LED bulbs costing as high as Rs 400 could soon be available for Rs 10, if a business plan developed by a group of government agencies and electricity distributing firms were to take effect.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Power Ministry has joined forces with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and electricity distribution companies (discoms) to develop the new business plan, under which the EESL would procure LED bulbs in bulk and distribute to households for Rs 10.
