Aaditya Thackeray slams Karnataka MLA Laxman Savadi for his demand to make Mumbai a Union Territory

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray’s son and Worli MLA Aaditya Thackeray has slammed Karnataka MLA Laxman Savadi for his purported statement that Mumbai be declared as a Union Territory.

Amid the Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary row over Belagavi (Belgaum), the Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded from the Centre that disputed areas be declared a Union Territory till the Supreme Court decides on the matter.

“We will not tolerate any attempt to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra…Mumbai is our motherland…Marathi manoos spilled his blood to get it,” said Aaditya, the Shiv Sena (UBT) legislature party leader.

Aaditya also asked the Congress party leaders from Karnataka to explain this to their MLAs. “The demand to declare Mumbai a Union Territory is condemnable,” the former minister said.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, which also has the Congress and Sharad Pawar-headed NCP (SP) as its constituents.
