BJP to hold grand convention on Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary in Maharashtra

As many as 10,000 BJP office-bearers and youth activists from all over Maharashtra will be present for this convention. The convention assumes significance in the wake of the forthcoming municipal and local bodies polls in Maharashtra.

Mumbai: Coinciding with the birth anniversary of monk-philosopher Swami Vivekananda on January 12 next year, the BJP’s Maharashtra unit will hold its grand state-level convention in the temple town of Shirdi, just months after the saffron party swept the Vidhan Sabha polls.

The convention assumes significance in the wake of the forthcoming municipal and local bodies polls.

The convention will be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is the architect of the BJP-MahaYuti sweep, will also be felicitated on the occasion.

“Based on the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda, a new campaign will be started from this convention to inspire the youth and attract them to BJP,” state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.

As many as 10,000 BJP office-bearers and youth activists from all over Maharashtra will be present for this convention.

“This program will be important for BJP's upcoming plans, in which a special campaign will be implemented to increase contact with the youth,” said Bawankule.

This is the first major party event after the 2024 Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls.

In the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the MahaYuti-NDA has 235 seats of the total strength of 288.

The BJP has got 132 seats, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena 57, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP 41.

Besides, six MLAs belonging to smaller parties and independents have supported the BJP.

The BJP and its allies had suffered badly in the Lok Sabha polls at the hands of the Maha Vikas Aghadi-I.N.D.I.A. bloc. However, within six months, they managed to reverse the situation and turn the tables.
