<p>Lucknow: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), an apex body of the Muslims in the country, would challenge the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the court if it was also passed by the Rajya Sabha.</p><p>The contentious Bill, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, was tabled in the upper house on Thursday.</p>.Modi govt tables Waqf Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha; 'won't snatch Muslims' rights', says Kiren Rijiju.<p>Senior Muslim cleric and AIMPLB member Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangimahali here said on Thursday that the Board would approach the court to challenge the Bill if the Upper House too passed it.</p><p>Firangimahali said that the Muslims expected Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP to oppose the Bill but they supported the same.</p><p>‘’We hope to get justice in the court as our position on the Bill is supported by the Constitution,’’ the cleric said.</p><p>According to the sources, the fate of a large number of Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh, which were not registered in the revenue records, would be in the hands of the concerned district magistrates.</p><p>Sources said that many public properties were shown as Waqf properties in the state in several districts.</p><p>Sources, quoting reports, said that more than 57 thousand government properties were ‘illegally’ recorded as Waqf properties. These properties would be restored to the government after the new Waqf Bill was enacted. These properties were spread across different districts in the state. The state government has sought a report about the Waf properties in the districts from the district magistrates.</p>
