The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to suspend IPS officer Rakesh Asthana pending bribery investigation against him initiated during his stint as CBI special director.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna questioned advocate M L Sharma about making multiple prayers made by him were not to be adjudicated in the PIL.

"You can't bring everything under the sky into a PIL. You start with plea for investigation against Asthana then go on to ask judges to recuse and further seek actions against somebody," the bench said.

The court also pointed out some of prayers may come in the realm of service tribunals.

"Some discipline has to be maintained in pleadings," the court said, declining to entertain the petition.

The court said it was not appropriate to entertain the petition.
