PM Modi chairs brainstorming session for 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision

A 100-day agenda for immediate steps to be taken after a new government is formed in May was deliberated upon during the meeting for its quick implementation.

New Delhi: Confident of a victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha, the council of ministers in the Modi Cabinet met for the last time this term, where they brainstormed about an agenda spread out across 100 days for the quick implementation of schemes after the formation of the government in May. 

The meeting, which was chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi, saw a presentation on a range of issues by secretaries and top officials of the government.

Modi told the officials to work hard, and that he expects to see them again in the next few months.

Sources in the government said that the council of ministers brainstormed on a vision document for Viksit Bharat 2047, where a detailed action plan for next five years was discussed. 

Officials said that the roadmap and vision document is a result of “intensive preparation” that spanned two years. Almost all ministries were involved and the centre held consultations with state governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, and scientific organisations. A mobilisation drive was also undertaken to seek ideas suggestions and inputs from the youth, sources said. 

“More than 2700 meetings, workshops and seminars were held at various levels. Suggestions of more than 20 lakh youth were received,” government officials said. 

“The roadmap for Viksit Bharat has a comprehensive blueprint with clearly articulated national vision, aspirations, goals and action points. Its goals includes areas like economic growth, SDGs, ease of living, ease of doing business, infrastructure, social welfare, etc,” said sources. 

With days to the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission, the BJP has swung into action, holding several meetings in the last few days. The party also announced its first list of 195 candidates on Saturday, naming its key leaders including Modi, union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, as well as Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, among others.

Officials said that the prime minister will attend 29 programmes in 12 states and UTs across the country over the next 10 days, launching multiple development projects.
