Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Ramdas Athawale met President Ram Nath Kovind and demanded President’s rule in Maharashtra after former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh’s extortion allegations against state’s Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

He said, “I met President Ram Nath Kovind and gave him a memorandum on behalf of RPI (A) party demanding the President's Rule in Maharashtra. It is a serious matter. No inquiry can take place until the Maharashtra govt is removed. He said that he will consider it.”
