Taj Mansingh Hotel to go under hammer

Last Updated 02 March 2017, 19:58 IST

The iconic Taj Mansingh Hotel will go under the hammer while the licence of another five-star hotel Le Meredian will be cancelled over dues of Rs 523 crore, the New Delhi Municipal Council said on Thursday.

These two decisions were pending for sometime due to legal battles between the NDMC and the two hotels. Officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said it supports decision of the NDMC.

The decision was publicised by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal through a tweet, “Important decisions today’s NDMC meeting-open auction of Taj Mansingh, cancel Le Meridian Hotel licence, 240 days TMR (Temporary Muster Roll) every year to all death cases.”

Both hotels are built on land owned by the NDMC. They are leased by the companies that own the hotels.
