With the commencing of the Pitru Paksha on September 10 in Tamil Nadu, the people were seen taking a holy dip at the sea of Agni Tirtha in Rameswaram. The people also performed Pitru Karma Puja. According to the Hindu calendar, the said period is a 16–lunar day period where the Hindus pay homage to their ancestors.
