<p>Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s two language policy of Tamil and English is the reason behind the state’s progress in several fields with its people occupying high positions across the globe, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Monday while asserting that the DMK’s commitment to “Hindi imposition” remains steadfast even if its means losing power. </p> <p>Addressing events in Nagapattinam, Stalin said the mantra of Tamil Nadu was to learn mother tongue Tamil, English to communicate with the outside world and Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Social Science for landing in jobs. He also accused the BJP-led Union Government of “withholding” funds meant for education on the pretext of not implementing National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and alleged that it was not able to fathom the progress of Tamil Nadu. </p> <p>“Our people occupy high positions in global companies. The importance given to English is the reason behind it. Would these people have achieved success if they had learnt Hindi? Impossible. Let me be candid. Hindi imposition is to impose social standing of a few people on the state. Only if we have a large population, we can have more MPs and that’s the situation we find ourselves in. This is because we controlled the population effectively. Have children and give them beautiful Tamil names,” Stalin told a wedding event. </p> <p>In a letter to his cadre, Stalin said there will never be any change in Tamil Nadu’s language policy. “The claim that Hindi would pave the way for employment opportunities for Tamil youth in North Indian states has been proved wrong by the arrival of North Indian youth to Tamil Nadu in search of employment,” Stalin said.</p> <p>He also accused Governor R N Ravi of “shedding tears” for Tamil youth not being able to learn south India language while he himself has been “insulting” Tamil language. </p>
