<p>Hyderabad: Coming under the pressure from irate farmers of Lagacherla in Vikarabad district in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/telangana">Telangana</a>, the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/a-revanth-reddy">Revanth Reddy</a> government on Friday withdrew the notification it issued on August 1 to acquire land to establish 'Pharma Village.' </p><p>The government will now issue a fresh notification to acquire land in Lagacherla for a multipurpose industrial park.</p><p>Lagacherla shot to prominence after the farmers, who were protesting against the land acquisition, attacked the Vikarabad district collector and other government officials a few days ago. Revanth Reddy- Kodangal, and the protests by farmers have kicked up a fierce political storm. Now, the government will issue another notification to acquire land in Lagacherla for a multipurpose industrial park, as the locals showed interest in giving up their land for any industry other than a pollution-causing pharmaceutical company.</p><p>The government had initially issued a notification for the acquisition of 632 acres of land belonging to Lagacherla. This notification pertained to land acquisition from 580 farmers. In response to the protests, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the establishment of an industrial corridor.</p><p>“TGIIC, Hyderabad, submitted withdrawal proposals for the above acquisition process and submitted that the acquisition for Pharma Village is withdrawn and fresh proposals shall be submitted for acquisition of land towards the Multipurpose Industrial Park. Accordingly, the withdrawal proposals U/s 93 of the LA R&R Act, 2013, have been taken up,” said a senior official of the state government.</p><p>Former minister T Harish Rao was quick to react to the withdrawal of the notification, terming it as the victory of the opposition BRS, as their leaders had stood with the farmers in their fight against the pharmaceutical factory in their vicinity.</p>
